Image of the Week ~ 26

Here comes the Bride

This weeks image is taken from Chris & Jessica’s Wedding this February. I had wanted for a long time to photograph the Bride walking down the isle from a balcony persecutive, so when we went to the church rehearsal, I  knew this was my chance. When I asked the priest if I was o.k to photograph from the balcony he said that it was closed off to the public. I explained to him that it was a perfect photographic opportunity for the Bride whom had been part of the church her whole life. I then reassured him that I would be as quite as a church mouse and only up there for a matter of minutes so he kindly agreed. And thank goodness, as I know that this shot is a personal favourite of the brides. You see, that is as much as my job as actually taking the pictures, finding different angles and perspectives, giving my customer not only a visual diary of what they remember about their big day but also seeing it in ways they had not seen it themselves.

Brides wins her King of Hearts

‘The Bride wins her King of Hearts’ is this weeks image and this is the closing image to the series I have posted of Adam & Sheena’s Wedding which took place in Wigan, last May 2012. This image was taken near the end of the night when the magician was doing his rounds leaving the guests stunned as he did different tricks around the edges of the dance floor. Here he’s entertaining the bride and fittingly she wins the Kings of Hearts, which impressed our bride and delighted the bridesmaids!

Bride with makeup artist

This image is from Chris & Jessica’s wonderful Wedding, my most resent work, which took place 1st February 2013. I particularly love this image as this is real photojournalism, a real moment in time. Jess looks so beautiful as she is being done up by the makeup artist and I have never seen her eyes sparkle so much. I have had the pleasure of knowing this couple for many years and watching them grow together. The little face peering behind her is their son, Lennon, who is looking on with wonderment at his beautiful mother.

The Joy of Father of the Bride

This image is from Katie & Graham’s Tuscan Wedding. This was after the marriage had taken place and all the party were back at the Villa. A Italian buffet was served in the garden around the lemon trees and everybody was starting to relax after a very emotionally charged service. This image is about the close relationship between the father of the bride, who is beaming with pride and joy, the bride who is taking it all in her stride and the bridesmaid who share the same snack.

Image of the Week ~ 7

I have chosen this image as Image of the Week as the last two posts were focused on the Bride and Groom. In this image the Bride and Groom are at the centre and are still the focal point but without their family and friends the tradition of confetti throwing would not of taken place. The confetti is thrown to bestow prosperity and fertility on the couple and all their family and friends take this opportunity to celebrate with the newly married couple. A lot of joy is shared in this moment and that is expressed in the flying arms and dancing shadows of the bridesmaids and guests.

Image of the Week ~ 1

I’m getting excited as I’m preparing myself today for photographing a Wedding tomorrow.  It will be my 3rd wedding that I have photographed since October last year.  This photograph that I have chosen for my first post as photograph of the week, was taken at that October wedding. It took place in Jersey and was officially the hottest 1st of October on record! The Bridesmaids were just adding the finishing touches to their outfits and almost ready for the day. Then, one of the Bridesmaids dress straps broke and for a moment it could of all gone wrong, but the other Bridesmaids quickly found pins and tied it back together. A tense moment shared between the Bridesmaids in the getting ready stage was soon forgotten as they concentrated on the Bride and her big day.
